Party on the river

Cycle Boat Tours On The Genesee

Rochester Pedal Tours, known for its pedal-powered sightseeing and pub crawl trolleys, branched out last season to add cycle boat cruises on the Genesee River. A thirty-two-foot vessel is available for groups of eighteen to enjoy a ninety-minute pedal party on the water that departs from the Port of Rochester. A professional crew is included (as is a back-up motor in case of party poopers on board) but bring your own libations, snacks, and music for the boat’s sound system. A retractable canopy can be adjusted to meet your group’s shade or sun worshipping preferences. Depending upon docking availability and passengers’ preference, cruises might include a quick drink or pit stop at one of two waterfront watering holes: Silk O’Loughlin’s or the ROC Harbor Clam Company.

The boat hosts a variety of groups and celebrations including bachelorette and birthday parties, corporate team building, or just a fun night out.

Rochester Pedal Tours owner Phil Szal moved from Buffalo in 2015 to establish his business here. He started with one trolley bike and now has four (each seats thirteen to fifteen people) plus the cycle boat and twelve personable staffers to steer the frivolity. Whether on land or water Szal’s primary goal is to make sure his guests have as much fun as possible in a safe environment.

When he sees the grins, Szal knows he is on track. “Smiles don’t lie,” says Szal.
