Holiday pop

Embellishments make party dressing a breeze

We’ve all been there: staring at our closets, trying to conjure up that perfect holiday party outfit. Too simple! Not enough sparkle! Too over-the-top! But if we take a cue out of Gigi Hadid’s style book, more is always more when it comes to festive dressing.

Model Carolyn Hall sports a beautiful satin wide-leg pant with a tie sash detail. For the past few seasons, the only pants worth wearing have been of the high-waist, wide-leg variety. They’re usually cropped, too, so petite girls don’t have to worry about hemming them. The combination of a high, nipped waist and full trousers has a lengthening effect. This creates a vertical balance, even while enhancing the look with an off-centered flair. Pair this pant with a simple black top and add some accessories for that pop.

This season, outerwear collections from designers such as Marni and Prada are brimming with coats full of personality. Embellishments decorate a classic silhouette without going overboard. Rather than resorting to over-the-top proportions or conspicuous plays on color, use embellishments to create a subtle attention-commanding look. Carolyn wears a top with a crystalline neckline and cropped wide-leg pants. A rosette and pearl detailed coat completes the look.
