Nick's Picks: Morton's Steakhouse

Rochester has a new fine dining option with the arrival of Morton’s Steakhouse in the Hyatt at 125 East Main Street.

Now in its thirty-ninth year of business, this high-end steakhouse has 68 locations throughout the United States and ten restaurants abroad.

A lavish preparty before its opening on October 28 highlighted all that Morton’s has to offer. Fresh jumbo shrimp and oysters, succulent lamb, beef on weck, and decadent desserts were all on offer, but delicious, buttery smooth cuts of Morton’s signature steak were the culinary star of the evening. All were served in a modern, elegant, 9,000 square foot space, fit with beautiful lighting fixtures, tall windows, and high ceilings.

Dining at Morton’s is an exercise in luxury and its menu reflects that. A six-ounce center-cut filet starts at $49. Eight- and twelve-ounce filets go for $55 and $60 respectively. Jumbo lump crab cakes are $41 and an eight-ounce lobster tail will cost you $49.

With its downtown location, Morton’s is sure to attract a business crowd as well as suburbanites looking for an extravagant date night.
