Princess: Out There

Mar 19, 2019
07:00 PM until 09:00 PM

Out There is a concept video album and live performance piece by the band Princess. The art pop duo of performance artists, Alexis Gideon and Michael O'Neill, is visiting Rochester Contemporary Art Center as part of a nationwide tour of art museums and creative spaces. RoCo is one of the many venues hosting Princess along with cultural institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, DePaul Art Museum, and New Museum of Contemporary Art.

The science fiction narrative piece is Beyonce's Lemonade meets Hamilton meets Kraftwerk. The project explores the role men ought to be playing during the current cultural reckoning of misogyny and the power of the Divine Feminine. Out There reclaims the original power of MTV by building on the long legacy of concept albums like Ziggy Stardust and Deltron 3030.
